Tawfique Chowdhury is the founder and director general of AlKauthar Institute and Mercy Mission. AlKauthar Institute, the world’s largest Islamic tertiary education institute outside of the USA, now enriches lives through knowledge on 5 continents with thousands of students around the globe. Mercy Mission aims to change the world into one where every Muslim can live faithful to their religion and a world in which humanity can appreciate the beauty of Islam.
Sheikh Tawfique excelled in his Islamic studies both classically from the scholars of Medinah as well as graduating from the college of Shariah from the Islamic University of Medinah. He completed the study of numerous classical texts from a number of its distinguished scholars. Those, from whom he has benefited most, include Sheikh Abdul Muhsin Al-Abbad, Sheikh Muhammad Mukhtar Ash-Shanqeeti, Sheikh Ahmad Rashid Ar-Ruhaily, and Sheikh Abdur Razzaq Al-Abbad.
This has led to him developing major credibility in Muslim communities across the globe, and being widely consulted on major issues of jurisprudence, including finance. He is a publically recognized figure with frequent appearances across a variety of TV and Radio platforms. Furthermore his expertise in Islamic finance has allowed him to design, develop and deliver specialist programs on Business and Finance from an Islamic perspective, which is now taught across five continents, and is currently being adapted for TV to be shown across the world on Huda TV. In 2008 he was appointed Head of Shariah Compliance and Modelling at Q Consulting, and is currently advising on ensuring Shariah compliance to Europe’s first Adaptive Media campaign for the Department of Health
