Kamarudin has been with the Securities Commission of Malaysia (SC) since 1993. At the SC, he has been involved in capital market regulatory and developmental initiatives in the area of investment management, financial planning, venture capital, derivatives and Islamic capital markets.
In 2005 he was seconded to the treasury and corporate finance departments of a foreign financial institution, focusing on bond and sukuk origination and structuring. Upon returning to the SC in 2007, he was assigned to the Bond Market and Private Debt Securities departments, overseeing supervision and developmental functions in the domestic bond and sukuk market.
Prior to joining the SC, Kamarudin was attached with the Research and Development Unit of Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank of Malaysia).
Kamarudin graduated in Law from the University of Kent at Canterbury, United Kingdom.
