Alice Law (Confirmed) Senior Director of Policy, Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong
Ms. Law is the Senior Director of Policy, China and Investment Products Division of the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong. Her role is to develop policies for enhancing the growth of the Hong Kong financial market and to promote closer co-operation with the Mainland market. Ms. Law joined the SFC in 1998 and prior to working in the current Division, she was the Director of Licensing and managed the implementation of the licensing regime for IPO sponsors. She also spent 3 years working in the Investment Products Department where she completed the revision of the Guidelines on Hedge Funds and Exchange Traded Funds. In 2005, Ms. Law spearheaded the project to launch the first REIT in Hong Kong. She has extensive experience in relation to international regulatory and compliance issues and had been on various secondment programmes with leading financial regulators including China Securities Regulatory Commission, the UK Financial Services Authority and Australian Securities and Investment Commission. Ms. Law is also a frequent speaker at public forum and conferences including Asia-Pacific Regulators’ Dialogue 2008 in Melbourne and AIMA Forum 2007 on regulation of hedge funds in London.
Ms. Law also serves as an Adjudicator on the Registration of Persons Tribunal. Before joining the SFC, Ms. Law was a partner heading the Corporate and Commercial Department of a Hong Kong law firm and was previously articled with a London law firm. Ms. Law is a qualified solicitor in Hong Kong and in England and has more than 19 years of legal experience.
Ms. Law graduated with a LLB degree from the University of Hong Kong and took her Master of Laws degree in University College London.
